TCS CodeVita 2025: complete preparation and registration guide

How to register for TCS CodeVita, what the coding rounds actually test, and how to prepare no matter which degree you're in.

Walking a room through evaluation criteria

TCS CodeVita is one of the largest coding contests in the world and a direct gateway to TCS careers, placements and jobs. Every year I see the same three questions from students: how do I register, what's the syllabus, and how do I actually prepare.

Registration, in short

TCS opens registration on its official CodeVita portal ahead of the contest window. Register with a valid academic or personal email, complete your profile, and confirm your slot — the biggest mistake students make is registering the week of the deadline and missing the confirmation step.

What the rounds actually test

Data structures, algorithmic problem solving, and time-pressured debugging — less about knowing a niche technique, more about writing correct code fast under a countdown. Competitive programming fundamentals carry further here than clever tricks.

A preparation roadmap

  1. Weeks 1-2: Refresh core data structures — arrays, strings, hashmaps, basic graphs.
  2. Weeks 3-4: Timed practice sets, strictly under contest conditions, not open-book.
  3. Week 5: Mock rounds mimicking the actual format, then a rest day before the real contest.

Why this matters beyond the contest

CodeVita is a direct opportunity for TCS internships and jobs, and it's a genuinely global competition — perfect for students from any degree who want a concrete data point for placement season beyond a GPA.
